The Yellowhouse Gallery
Come help us celebrate our 50th year in business on the Outer Banks! Those years have seen many changes, the most recent of which is our move in 2018 to join our sister gallery SeaDragon in the Waterfront Shops in Duck.
We will open for the season in mid-March; meanwhile, you can contact Eve for an appointment or you just might catch her up on the boardwalk doing inventory and restocking with fresh as well as familiar works for the new year.
Yellowhouse continues to showcase local fine art photography through the works of owner Eve Turek, Ray Matthews and Phyllis Kroetsch who is also on staff. On any given day the chances are excellent you will meet one of our featured artists! We also offer handmade works in artisan jewelry, pottery, glass and wood, much of which comes from our region. We have a collection of decorative Outer Banks maps, including some antique maps and charts.
“49” is a key number in Yellowhouse’s history, so it was fitting that our new chapter in Duck began as Yellowhouse itself turned 49. Eve was 49 when she and husband Pete bought the gallery from founder Jack Sandberg and his wife Sue; Sue was 49 when she joined Jack in the gallery.
Customers continue to ask us: Why did you leave the old yellow cottage on the beach road?
We rented that cottage for many years and loved it. After the property was sold, we found a new home in the Croatan Plaza in Nags Head. Two years after purchasing SeaDragon Gallery in Duck, adjacent space became available there for lease, and we decided to join the galleries in one location.
And come see us in Duck! We look forward to sharing our new “House” with you!
The Seadragon Gallery
Since 2001, SeaDragon Gallery in Duck NC has celebrated the imagination and creativity of American artisans by offering an eclectic collection of traditional and contemporary handcrafts and fine arts.
Our cheerful gallery is filled with jewelry and works in pottery, glass, metal and wood by local Outer Banks, North Carolina artists and by artisans from across the United States. SeaDragon Gallery has become a must visit destination for our many summer visitors who delight in the variety and uniqueness of the works on display. Each item in our collection is selected with an emphasis on design and craftsmanship.
In 2016, founder Paula Myatt sold SeaDragon Gallery to Eve Turek, who along with her husband Pete also owns Yellowhouse Gallery. Located in Nags Head since 1969, Yellowhouse joined SeaDragon in Duck in 2018. The two shops are now connected with a custom built archway not to be missed! Eve brings an extensive knowledge of local art to SeaDragon, as well as a lifelong love of fine American craft. She is an owner/artist, and brings her internationally award-winning photography to the combined gallery offerings.
It is our goal at SeaDragon Gallery to promote American artisans by providing our customers with a diversity of beautiful handmade goods combined with exceptional personal service. In our gallery you can chose from works by over 100 established and emerging artists, only a few of whom are shown here.
We invite you to visit SeaDragon Gallery, which is located in the Waterfront Shops just north of the water tower in Duck. There you can appreciate our full collection at your leisure and also enjoy the spectacular view and magnificent sunsets from our boardwalk along the Currituck Sound.
